7 Years

About three weeks ago I cut off my dreads. I had them for quite a while, and I felt it was time for them to go. However after putting so much effort and work into them, there was no way I could bring myself to just discard them. So...like anything else, I bronzed it! Below are in progress pictures of my new self portrait titled - 7 Years. Pics coming of finished product soon!

Juried Art Show 2010

Had a great time last Friday at The Studio 620 in St. Petersburg. Central Art Supply Store had an open call for a juried exhibition. I was fortunate enough to have 3 out of 3 entrees selected to be in the show. The opening had a good turn out, and looked great.

Busy Busy!!!

Been very busy these past couple weeks, but fortunately it paid off. Senior orals were held last week, which I think went quite well. Then on Friday, February the 5th I had my fine arts senior exhibition with Josh Fuller. The show went very well, it was lots of fun, and we had a great turn out. Looking forward to setting up some shows in the future!

I had 4 bronze sculptures, 3 wood sculptures, and a print. Josh filled the walls up with 3 huge projections, and had a sculpture that related to one of the images.

New Sculpture!

Piece of wood, with hole bored through center from insects. I poured molten bronze into this hole, and this is what happened.

I think it turned out great!

Good Times

the piece, out of the wood and cleaned up a bit

I found wood with tunnels bored out of the middle from insects, after cleaning it up a bit and clearing some of the contents inside the tunnels, I poured molten bronze into the holes, giving me these great positive casts from the negative space inside the branches. I think they came out very well! I had no idea what would happen.

Fine Arts: Open Studios, it was very successful. We had lots of traffic coming through our studios all night long. It is a yearly event held here at Ringling, where the senior Fine Arts class opens their individual studios to the public as they walk through campus and check them all out. It was a great event.
